Rugby World Cup 2027 Tickets Are On Sale Now

Before you queue: you need a created and activated RWC 2027 ticketing account to buy at all — set it up before you join the queue, not while you are in it. Once you reach the front you have 30 minutes to finish the transaction, so have your card and party size ready. If the match you want is gone, World Rugby’s own advice is to look at the other fixtures rather than wait — availability is uneven, not exhausted.
Rugby World Cup 2027 tickets went on general sale at 12:00pm AEST on Thursday 1 October 2026 and are available now. The Visa Priority Sale that ran 28–30 September has closed; what is left from it is what the public sale is selling. It is first-come, first-served — not a ballot — so the queue, not the luck of a draw, decides who gets seats.
Prices start at AUD$40 for adults and AUD$20 for children. World Rugby says 1.3 million tickets have already gone, to supporters in 164 countries, and that every match still has some availability — but Australia’s own games are the ones expected to clear first. The tournament runs 1 October to 13 November 2027 across seven Australian cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Townsville.

What happens on 1 October 2026
World Rugby describes it as “your next opportunity to secure tickets for the biggest Men’s Rugby World Cup in history.” Two things matter about the wording. It is first-come, first-served, which means being registered and logged in before the window opens is worth more than anything else you can do. And it is described as the next opportunity rather than the last — further releases normally follow once pools and fixtures firm up.

You can already buy, if you don’t want to wait
Every match is on sale now through official ticket-inclusive hospitality and travel packages from Rugby World Cup Experiences, World Rugby’s official provider of premium experiences and travel for RWC 2027. Packages cost considerably more than a general-sale seat because they bundle hospitality, and sometimes flights and hotels, with the ticket. For a supporter flying from the UK or Ireland who wants a guaranteed seat at a specific match, that certainty is the entire point. For anyone flexible on which game they attend, waiting for 1 October is cheaper.
The 2027 format: 24 teams and a round of 16
This is the first Rugby World Cup to expand beyond 20 teams, and the change matters if you are buying tickets. 24 teams are drawn into six pools of four. The top two from each pool qualify, and so do the four best third-placed teams — which means a newly added round of 16 before the quarter-finals. Total match count rises to 52.
Two practical consequences. First, third place in a pool is now genuinely worth playing for, so dead rubbers in the final round of pool matches are rarer than they were in 2023. Second, there is an extra knockout weekend, which means more knockout tickets in circulation than at any previous World Cup — the round of 16 is the softest knockout ticket to get, and historically the best value on the whole calendar.

Pool A is the headline. Australia and New Zealand were drawn together, so the two Rugby Championship rivals meet in the pool stage on home soil — and one of them starts the knockouts from second place. Pool F puts England and Wales in the same pool for the first time since 2015, when England went out at the group stage as hosts in almost exactly this situation. Hong Kong and Zimbabwe are the stories at the other end: Hong Kong reach a World Cup for the first time, and Zimbabwe return after a 36-year absence.

Eight stadiums across seven cities. Australia is very large, and this is the part travelling supporters underestimate — Perth to Townsville is further than London to Moscow. Plan the internal flights before you commit to matches in more than two cities.

Note the geography trap: the opening match is in Perth, not Sydney. Australia play Hong Kong there on 1 October 2027, and Perth is a four-and-a-half hour flight from Sydney in a different time zone. Supporters wanting both the opener and the final need two long domestic flights six weeks apart.
