Peter McDonald Premiership — Forbes v Dubbo Macquarie
Forbes come in with four grades in grand finals on the same programme, which is why the day starts at 9.30am. Dubbo Macquarie needed extra time to get past cross-town rivals Dubbo CYMS 20–18 in their preliminary final; Forbes accounted for Mudgee 38–28. Full preview.
Group 2 — Woolgoolga v Macksville
Macksville booked their place with a 30–12 preliminary final win over Sawtell. Woolgoolga took the direct route through the major semi and have had the extra week off. Full preview.
Newcastle — Maitland v South Newcastle
The biggest venue of the day. Maitland go in as minor premiers on an eleven-game winning streak; Souths came through the preliminary final 40–20 over Centrals.
Group 19 — Uralla v Inverell
Uralla host at home. Inverell reached the decider after a 42–24 preliminary final win over Glen Innes, capping a season in which the Hawks qualified for three grand finals.
Group 21 — Scone v Singleton
Scone earned hosting rights by upsetting minor premiers Singleton in the major semi-final. Singleton took the long way back, beating Aberdeen 26–10 in the preliminary final at Pirtek Park to set up the rematch.
Saturday’s result
Gunnedah Bulldogs beat Moree Boars 28–12 at Kitchener Park to win Group 4 — their first premiership in 28 years and their first home decider since 1995. Full result.
